Anton LaVey: Kindred "Spirit"
Like many other self-realized Satanists, I feel a great sense of kinship, understanding, & respect for Dr. Anton Szandor LaVey. His eternal flame burns on through the work he left behind, so that other devils might spread their black wings and soar above the herds of mediocrity. He put forth more than this sorry world could ever return.
I first read The Satanic Bible years ago, and of course loved it immediately, but it wasn't until I recently began following up with his subsequent works realized we are very much the same with our distaste for humanity at large, dislike of crowds or even leaving our home, and delight in seeing rotten people suffer.
At times, he says things I disagree with, same as all my friends, and what would Satanism be without disagreement? This doesn't change the fact that his books are among the best I've ever read, in terms of enjoyability, thought provocation, and of course, blasphemous delights. What other author put forth a volume describing both the virtues of the Whoopie-Cushion and an instructional guide on how to transform oneself into a werewolf? This is Dr. LaVey's contribution, and the world is better for it.
So raise the sign of the horns in honor of Anton LaVey, who left his mark of blazing scorn across the constraints of organized religion. Hell has yet to emit his diabolical equal.
